Deadly Police Chase In Columbia Heights, MN
The Columbia Heights police chief says an officer spotted someone driving recklessly just before 1 a.m. today. When the officer started to follow the car, the driver shut off the headlights and sped off, running several stop signs. Police say the car was stolen in Minneapolis.
Just a few blocks away at 38th Avenue and Hart Boulevard, the driver crashed into some woods and was thrown from the car into Hart Lake. Officers went into the water to rescue the driver, but he died at the scene.
